You should not pay 70k for ~$650 in rent ($850 - HOA).I don't personally like anything with HOAs because I don't have control over when they are raised and each time they are cuts into your monthly cash flow and (double whammy) puts downward pressure on the asset value.The HOA doesn't cover any insurance?

On an '87 era home we had to also run drains (from the downspouts) 50 ft away from the basement as the basement floor was constantly wet from hydrostatic pressure from under the slab.

BECAUSE, here is one more piece of ugly truth, while loan officers are forbidden from directly pressuring appraisers, there is nothing stopping the lender from going to the next appraiser when one of them comes in low too often AND that's exactly what happens all too often, right after the lender attempts to punish and mold the appraiser with a reconsideration of value request which by the way Chris, is illegal.
