That is sort of a big swing and miss in my book and while folks make their own destiny, it seems blame can still be allocated, if not whole at least in part, to these programs.As far as the mentor thing, to some degree that is guru magic speak for finding someone who knows more about the asset and industry than you.

The special pays such as flight pay, HDP, ID, etc, as well as a percentage of base pay have all gone historically to the TSP, but last year I adjusted the allocations to go primarily into the Roth option.

Just a simple I buy, you sell 50-50 split doesn't do enough.One more thing, if you are asking someone else to bankroll the operation, that someone else should get the majority of the profit or at the very least, get all of his or her capital outlay reimbursed first (made whole), and then you allocate the splits.When I am approached and suggest this structure, the other side often says no thanks.

Relatedly, I like the idea of simply dividing the bill and allocating to tenants but I think there is a local statute requiring the allocation be based on some methodology e.g.., RUBS.
