we were lucky & had over 50 free clean loads dropped off & we used road millings from the county for the driveway base 1/2 the price of stone & it compacts into wet clay very well.Another issue is sales tax on building materials, get in with a guy who has a registered tax certificate to avoid same.Or as I did (lucked out) for one build we had the building materials trucked in from another state..no tax!!!

I can't recommend enough that you purchase the J Scot/BP flipping books and read through them a couple of times.Just get that thought of working on the house in your spare time out of your head!
