That was true when I was renting units in Silicon Valley, and now as a renter in a different area of CA, they're also waaaaay wrong.Craigslist is the way to go to gauge the going rent rates.

I managed a 26 unit building that had been built in 1906 and converted to apartments during WWII in Silicon Valley, and most of them were tiny studios.The great thing about renting out smaller units, is you have less tenants - and less kids.
