This is the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.With any luck, this is water-based paint and she didn't sand the old finish, so a heat gun will lift it off nicely.I would see how the removal and refinishing goes before charging her.

Work is pretty basic, mostly wall repair and paint, some hardwood refinishing, installation of new toilet, and vanity, refinishing of a tub and removal of vines from the stucco on the outside of the home.

If I lived in an apartment in Queens in New York City or in half a duplex in Pacifica, California, would I have a few thousand bucks invested in tools to fix houses and spend my day like today, where I worked on refinishing the oak strip floor of a bedroom and took a break to go to a tenant's house to change out a showerhead?

We originally thought we could have the wood floors just refinished but the gouges/carvings/deep scratches were extensive and so deep that there is no way around it but to remove the floor and replace.

We expected some carpet damage and that a repaint would be needed but in reality the wood floors are destroyed, windows need replacing, all carpets need to be replaced, cabinets require replacing or refinishing, and the grounds need landscaping.Originally our plan was to fix this home and sell it.

From my walkthrough, I knew right away the big ticket items we needed were a new roof, new plumbing, new upgraded electrical, new garage doors, and new AC unit; along with the standard refinish of the interior.
