If you can be certain to find a line between rows of nails, you could set your circular saw to (a shy)1/4"and cut a trench to allow you to get under the floor and pull it up.Around here it is very common in old houses (Second Empire, Queen Anne, etc) to have accumulated 3-4 layers of flooring over the years  - we renovated one two summers ago which had an original pine floor over the subfloor; two layers of hardwood above that and, in places, a layer of asphalt tile on top of the hardwood.

My 7 1/4 circular saw is HF, too, but almost all the blades I use in it are Diablo.Only some exceptions to this in my experience: don't buy a cheap caulking gun, staple gun, screwdriver with a set of 1/4 bits, or a cheap plastic razor utility knife.

The compressor units for mini splits are awesome- quiet, power savvy, and small, you can tuck them in and hide the easily.  3) I'm not HVAC experienced, other than casual interest, but I've seen on This Old House the installation of smaller 4" ducts that run to a smaller room "port" that is circular, instead of a big vented rectangle.
