I had 3 knee surgeries and regularly have knee pain (nothing compared to your injury) but the confidence, physical demands, discipline are beneficial.Good luck on both your RE pursuits and life.

I took my Maine license exam a day after abdominal surgery that was quite a bit more painful than advertised. 

Same thing with surgery, if I dont think there is something I can fix, I'm not going to commit myself and my patient to going to the operating room.
