In real estate as in life we often have to adapt, improvise and strive to overcome those things that stand in our path to success however we measure that.  

and others talk about on BP: striving to upscale work/materials/finishes so that if rented, then sold, it will appraise as a well-done flip/remodel, not just a builder grade cheap material hack job. 

IMO, you should have responded publicly by thanking them for the feedback and noting that you've addressed the issues (assuming you did) and then state that you always strive to provide the best stay for guests, etc... 

If we all strive to be everyone's ideal vacation home, we will end up with the lowest common denominator, the vanilla middle America hotel room.
