Seems like Congress is pretty friendly to commercial real estate, and whatever changes there may be politically (not something I get into here on BP), I think real estate investment and development is something that benefits (or can benefit) every single zip code in this country, and at one level of another, politicians do see this.

It's just like the politicians that push for "affordable housing" developments or windmills, but they won't put them in their own neighborhood. 

Cost of living, taxes, crazy politicians etc...  

But the government, media, and politicians keep pushing more and more "benefits" to renters that stop paying.

The politicians in power will want to act in a way the doesn't let the economy crash, because a bad economy hurts their chances of re-election. 

Real Estate is dynamic and should be priority #1 of any politician or voter  to commit to making this industry as strong as possible.

The politicians tend to lean towards social issues so property rights and profits for hard work and taking risk aren't valued as high.

I think this issue will eventually force politicians to make the real changes that are necessary to the constitution and our spending first, which is what most want before property tax raises.

I looked at various places like the coast, Chelan and the Oregon coast, but the prices are too high and I don't want to be on the hook for the crazy things politicians do here.I don't want to add to your paralysis, I just want you to take some time, give us more info and go from there.
