I would likely mitigate this risk by budgeting for a higher percentage of construction costs.

Furthermore, it doesn't hurt to ask the CPA if there are ways to mitigate the tax burden upon sale.

Nothing can be done now but to install quality cameras and discuss with the police in person, what they can do to help mitigate things.You have to remove emotion.

That is something you really need to be careful on in what investments you choose and ensure you mitigate risks through proper due diligence, education in the investment strategy you choose, & proper team building to accomplish the goal.
