So I'm always at a loss for what to do with stairs.I normally use the metal stair edging for stairs that aren't showy: Leading to basements, etc because I feel that is best for slip/trip prevention, but I really like the look of stained (or painted dark brown) Treads with white risers, especially when there is no other carpet in house.Wooden stairs are less slip resistant compared to carpet or metal edging: fine for my house, but I worry more about slips/trips at a rental.Does anybody have any decent looking solutions?

I shouldn't tempt fate but we just haven't had any issues worth complaining about maybe a carpet stain but that happens at my own house with my kids.

I don't want to get into it with a tenant who says "the carpet was stained when I moved in" or whatever they have to say.

Their initial rehab was obviously shoddy, and many corners were cut.There are also a few flags waving such as: only a few small spots in the basement painted (were they hiding water stains or cracks in wall and foundation?)

The adhesive may actually stain the floor, requiring sections to be replaced with matching wood before sanding.
