Regardless of what the talking heads are saying, the U.S. is in a recession. 

I am originally from Metro Detroit, I went to college in Kalamazoo, and I now live in Grand Rapids with my family.

It doesn't take too much to live with a great deal of creature comfort when you don't have to pay for a roof over your head!

I think you hit it on the head - depleting your cash is, in my opinion, a calculated risk worth taking due to your savings rate.  

Hi Erik, I like where you are heading.

We even tightened our standards in the BiggerPockets Facebook groups last year due to increase of post/deals/stories that make you scratch your head and think "Is this story fabricated?" 

There are plenty of travelers that visit looking for a clean & affordable place just to rest their head at night.

I always wanted independence from an employer, but this was the push I needed to get of the porch and out my head and start the process.I am here to start my journey of financial freedom, where I will never have to worry about anyone  making major decisions that impact my life in a way that I can not control and leave me in desperation.
