So anytime any work had to be done to plumping, run phone/cable lines etc. the ceiling had to be damaged to gain access to the mechanical's of the house.Also, it was carpeted and about once a year in the spring moisture would seep into the basement and I would have to be diligent to get it dried up or otherwise it would cause mildew/moisture issues.

I can see a similar thing in real estate but maybe the penetration is only 35-50% but believe me many will opt for the do it yourself route like stocks.

If you are using a Tramex Moisture Meter and the level is 0%-2%, no moisture barrier is required.

They have new sealers out now that are penetrating and last longer so people don't have to re-seal their counters 1-2x's a year.
