They're trying to protect their business and I'm trying to protect mine-  Experience has taught me that a resale is easier when a seller isn't influenced by the knowledge of your purchase price.  

Also,....if it's JUST her on the lease,,,,,and he (naturally) moves in with her.......now his bad habits more directly influence her...she gets tired of his foolishness and ....she breaks up with him.....and she moves out......but he doesn't (because nobody will rent to him).....now you are dealing with an eviction process in our State of California and even though he's not on the lease....it's still a big problem.....An don't even think about putting them both on the lease because then you may never get him out of there if they split up.Pass on them my friend
