I believe building code states that you need to provide heat to keep temperatures 68 degrees 3 ft from the floor.

@Tuline MaDepending on the sound, it could be the house expanding and contracting as the house heats/cools with the daytime/nighttime temperatures.

We have had some drops in temperatures which always allows for possible pipes to be frozen, but nothing too extreme.

It is always possible that we are going through a temporary period of random temperature increase, but we should base our decisions on the most likely explanation as opposed to remotely possible ones.But global warming does not mean that all parts of the world will be warmer.
