We have most definitely reached out to all of the companies that are easy to find on google, and I have been there in South Bend multiple times networking to find the smaller, boutique firms. 

I have the opportunity to join a large national firm (SVN) or a small boutique firm where I would be jack of all trades.

Contact commercial brokerages around, larger and smaller boutique firms, interview with them and get a sense of where you want to go. 

Its a boutique shop now and the owner lives upstairs. 

There could also be potential to convert a greenhouse into a boutique office space for someone to rent.

I had funds with First Pension in LA, a small private boutique provider with great customer service, when they went belly up and stole $60M of investor funds.   

Most condo boards like it when apartments are renovated as that typically raises the sales prices in the building but in smaller boutique condos where everyone will hear the renovations and be affected by water shut downs, etc, that might not be the case.

Having some asset (like medical offices) “back your investment” is a little different than wanting to be a silent partner in the local dry cleaning or boutique smoothie joint.
