I'm 6'3'' and live in an English basement in DC with 7 foot ceilings (maybe 6'11'' ceilings where there's one inch carpet) and it's fine. 

Most tenants are good, but some will take a mile when you give them an inch.  

The book was LITERALLY over 6 inches thick!!!
