I did some reading online, and came up with the below parameters on which the choice of carpet can be based:Carpet material: Nylon/Polyester(PET)/Triexta, etcCarpet cut: Cut-pile/Plush/Berber/Loop, etcCarpet Face weight: 14oz/17oz/25oz, etcCarpet pad: 8lbs, etc..I spoke to a few carpet stores in town, but each one of them told me a different choice.

You might be able to resurrect it if it's nylon, but if it's polyester, it won't improve much.

And that first coat of oil-based poly isn't going to be mopped around with an applicator, oh no, you're gonna be on your hands and knees with a white China bristle natural brush with no polyester blended in there.
