Whether this is a wise step to take if you want to be an agent, I have no clue, but it seems like a cheap way to hang your license and get access to the mls.

At age 70, they are still working.Without the mindset and knowledge of what it means to invest wisely and have passive streams of income, hard work is wasted.   

You would be wise to find a decent agent who will broker the transaction for a reduced fee and represent you both, and split the cost.You're doing a real estate transaction in the most litigious and law-choked state of the union.
