I was able to extrapolate how much my guests spend in town and it was into the 5 digits which is pretty good for a tiny town.They know that the town and area relies on tourists coming either by car or boat and spending the day and money.

It is now the number one tourist area in the United States.

It is not a tourist city, but we do get a lot of travel and people move here. 

St Croix is much more residential and less tourist, but the economy on ST Croix wiill come back with the Japanese purchase of the refinery that use to be HESS HAVENCA, If i spelled it right.

We're in a touristy area since we're on Space Coast, so hoping to leverage that weather it's aerospace employees, like myself, or tourists. 

I'm not sure of the rules in LA, but in my part of Florida, if the person in question is working for you directly, I don't know of any "license" they would need--only you as the property owner would need to be licensed with the state, and you need to pay your bed/occupancy/tourist taxes to the county. 

Right now I"m in the early phases of deciding exactly where to launch an STR (here in Allen, somewhere close to downtown Dallas that's more tourist-friendly, or maybe even some vacation destination way out of town).

The property is very close to the airport and not too far from Downtown, so I think it'll be attractive to both business travelers and tourists.

Astronomically high housing prices but it's also an incredibly popular tourist destination so I'd imagine that the short term rental market would have to be the market to go after in Hawaii.
