It is defined as the following.Boardinghouse, rooming house, lodging house and tourist house shall mean a building arranged or used for the lodging, with or without meals, for compensation, by individuals who are not members of the same familyAdditionally, zoning ordinances prevent SFH and most MF to operate as a rooming house.

I was able to extrapolate how much my guests spend in town and it was into the 5 digits which is pretty good for a tiny town.They know that the town and area relies on tourists coming either by car or boat and spending the day and money.

St Croix is much more residential and less tourist, but the economy on ST Croix wiill come back with the Japanese purchase of the refinery that use to be HESS HAVENCA, If i spelled it right.

I'm not sure of the rules in LA, but in my part of Florida, if the person in question is working for you directly, I don't know of any "license" they would need--only you as the property owner would need to be licensed with the state, and you need to pay your bed/occupancy/tourist taxes to the county.

Astronomically high housing prices but it's also an incredibly popular tourist destination so I'd imagine that the short term rental market would have to be the market to go after in Hawaii.
