I have yes, currently have 2 house in the las vegas area and plan to get some more with the equity built in them.  

Being open to 4 beds will help you buy in a better location.Brighton, Firestone, Commerce City, Northglenn, Frederick, Thornton, Arvada etc. are all possible although you will not be in the most desirable areas of these towns in this price point.

Any recommendations on key cities / towns within Ohio / Indiana that I should continue to research to further narrow my focus?

San Antonio definitely has some pockets of town where appreciate for single family homes is particularly great.
