You could always try to AirBnB just your bedroom maybe a couple of nights  week and go home for home cooked meals on the weekends....or if you buy in the right area put a travel home in the drive or in the back yard and sleep there if you rent your bedroom, or if there is some other kind of room you could use, like a big laundry room or storage area.Sounds like you are on the right track.

Have a personal budget that includes your meals and some new boots and some new clothes, haircuts,  and things like that every once in a while. 

I have not had good results from AirBnB or Apartments.com The better tenants get a home cooked meal once a week, or they are invited to my house to shoot guns and enjoy a kegorator. 

So much nicer than having separate hotel rooms - we are all in a home and can cook meals together while enjoying a great locale.

The market for smaller investors I think would be well designed homes with more reasonable rents and meals.

Example: The purpose of the meal must  must be business, this means you have to have a conversation with your dining partner before, during or after the meal or traveling away from home on business.If you are a investor, what kind of business do you have to write off business meals when talking to partners about business to increase the wealth of the business?

And it'll be a healthier market to buy/sell in.

They will be all hanging out with the other trades getting a beer at midnight and their first meal of the day.
