They responded to the email by going to our agency to complain on us saying we sent them a nasty unprofessional email which if a complaint is made it prompts an internal investigation (the board secretary made the complaint).

@Danny Abrahamson - KW (and most Realty Agencies) are going to want you to either be full-time or have a plan to get there in a "reasonable" amount of time; however, it is also known that the vast majority of licensed agents are part-time.
