But with real estate investments it takes hours, days or weeks to verify that investment is a good one… and that's only if you know what you're doing.  

Is it standard procedure for a bank to verify and clear all liens on a property before they list it REO on the MLS?

You'll also want to verify that it is 100% FDIC insured or you'll still be at risk with even the most aggressive bonding.
