That doesn't matter for returning security deposit or providing an accounting of any money spent.You simply send it to his last known address, in this case your unit, and when it arrives, you take it and keep it - UNOPENED - in a folder as proof that you tried to provide an accounting of how it was spent in accordance with the state laws.
