What we want to do is house hack, but we don't want to lose money on this condo, even though we don't want to live in it anymore (neighbors, the neighborhood - very industrial near Boeing, and they took away our ability to have a grill, but I suppose that's neither here nor there).  

I think a brief cooling period in which you put up a sign to deter these people from coming back is a wise move.

I'm not sure about other parts of the country, but living in South Jersey, it's pretty cool when you find a place that doesn't have termite damage.
