Once the seasoning period is up I would refinance into a conventional loan, my entitlement would be restored and I could then be able to buy a second multi family property the same as the first one through the VA loan, I would rent it out, make renovations and live in it for the seasoning period again.

If it weren’t for the mortgage we’d definitely wanna live in the house we’re renovating, we’re putting quality second hand materials into it and restoring its original character as much as possible.

My brother in law turned a single story into a two story after Harvey since he couldn’t otherwise get out of the property and has gotten a bigger living area and converted the entire first level into storage area that can take a future flood with minimal restoration cost.

Hi Daniel,Just some things off the top of my head to discuss with your contractor/plumber/workmen (if have not already).Sometimes "Remove the Tub" means cut it up with a big saw into pieces or break the surround into unusable pieces.This will add to the job cost due to replacement of the tub and surround.It may depend on the workmen doing the job (different people do things differently), or how the tub and surround are constructed.Where I'm going with this, is your "Fix the leak bid, may not include replacing the tub and surround (and floor) to the condition they were before the demolition work.If this is true, the restoration to original will be an extra charge.
