They want to purchase the duplex currently under contract but at a fraction of the cost I'm buying it for.It's my opinion that they condemned it in advance in order to negotiate a low ball offer.

If you increase the rent some more, that just means you need a few more fractions of points more in the market.I totally get that we all have to live somewhere, so it seems like paying yourself in a mortgage is better than paying a landlord in rent.
