. - Some charming original details (porch, molding, doors, wood floors, fireplace)- I'm an architect by trade and both my father and father-in-law have construction experience and are willing to help with the remodel.What options do I have to finance this and do a significant amount of work myself?

We hire outside contractors to do roof maintenance, gutter/drainage maintenance, furnace maintenance, chimney/fireplace maintenance, plumbing maintenance, tree/shrub pruning at least once a year.

I shiplapped the existing electrical fireplace.

The main heat is a gas type stove, not a cooking stove but a fireplace type and the other bedroom has electric heat.

The situation: I am currently interested in purchasing a home located in the northeast that has no central heat source (fireplace only).

I am planning on turning the house over to a rental property within the next few years but currently my only heat is a wall furnace and a fireplace!  

Home has a wood burning fireplace that I plan to use heavily in winter/fall. 

Also says we have a fire place.

It's a two bedroom with one bath, utility room, kitchen, living room with working fire place.  

I listed a house and found later that I my fireplace kit and brand new door (still in package) was missing; with no signs of breaking in.
