And I hope people will appreciate the things they have and not take things for granted (toilet paper has a new appreciation, no doubt; and I hope people have a better appreciation for truck drivers, medical workers, first responders, retail store workers, etc.). 

A neighbor urgently needs to sell their home due to medical issues & moving out of state.

I don't think the numbers from the last few days should shock anyone as medical experts have been saying for weeks that this is going to happen.  

Regarding a 1 or 2 year issue, if by that time there is still widespread unemployment despite massive government intervention then we are probably talking about a failed state.

With the amount of medical knowledge I have concerning viruses and infections, I don't see this ending soon.

Medical experts and attorneys in the industry have advised there is simply too much risk to a tenant and prospective tenant to continue with showings as has been done historically.Vacant apartments also present challenges, although technology and trends in professional management have mitigated the impact of COVID-19 in this case.

Manufacturers of products to help with the medical response are being reimbursed by the government. 

I've been a stay-at-home mom for many years but before that was in corporate marketing for medical devices. 

Its near Duke university, so I think there will be some seasonal medical workforce movement, grad school students, etc., so it could line up well for mid-term furnished rental.
