When looking at the house pay particular attention to the location of plumbing fixtures and any other lines (gas, electrical, ducting, etc) as they will be more costly to move than they would be with a basement.Additionally, if the building is older and has cast iron or copper DWV, you may want to have the lines scoped to ensure they are in good condition (as it can be a big, disruptive job to replace bad lines).

@Andrew Coulton You forgot to include lead paint, asbestos popcorn ceilings/walls and disintegrating iron cast sewer pipes, among other pleasures that come with structures built prior to 1980.As for foundation, there is more to foundation repairs than just the foundation.

One of the things that concerned me on the inspection report is that there is galvanized water pipes and cast iron drain pipes (replaced with PVC once above ground).
