I am pretty sure they exceed 750 hours in a year, and am starting a log to track my hours and expenses.In case if I do not qualify, someone suggested me of getting a fictitious name for a sole proprietorship so I can deduct business expenses, which is a better tax strategy?

When you figure that out, have a licenced electrician inspect it so you have an idea of the cost to get it "to code".
