I was toying with the idea of stocks for awhile, but I could never get past the inherent risk related to their volatility.

Also, they perform like the public markets do, and so pricing is much more volatile than private real estate or syndications.

So in the upper price points, individuals will often spend a greater percentage of their income on housing, while the other life expenses become a smaller percentage.This is also a factor in why you see more price volatility in the upper price points.

The good thing about stagnant markets is they typically aren't as volatile as markets with better opportunities to capture appreciation. 

I would love to have a vacation home where the costs are subsidized by short term rentals, but I personally believe that the short term market is volatile right now with the fact that every state, county and city are coming up with their own rules and laws towards AirBNB's / VRBO's, and it seems like with every mayoral change those laws are at risk of changing.

The REIT's tend to be more volatile and can have bull to bear years.Personally it's not my cup of tea compared to other investments.I do not think it says much about the market.

@Alexander Felice This is exactly my point... the stock market has ups and downs and crypto is incredibly volatile.

Equity doesn't pay the bills, it's too volatile and susceptible to market fluctuations, and it can disappear overnight.

There are estimated to be $Trillions looking for safer, less volatile investment than Wall Street, especially airline stocks :-).

One can say there are some volatility, but time will greatly ease them.
