Hey bryce,I think what I would do is make a couple little tree planter boxes maybe 2x2 ft, and do  concrete the rest.

There was courtyard patio in the center of the building, and tenants could request to have planters assigned to them, so they could plant veggies or flowers, etc. 

- ie planters on a porch that can be easily removed.Has anyone ever had this come up?

My theory, he went outside, threw a cigarette butt in the planter and that is where the fire originated.

@Rudy Planter I have been hearing f good things from people I know who have bought in Rochester.

Fortunately, I still made a profit, but my HOA dues went up 33%, I had a plant nazi give me grief about tomato plants in planters in my yard, just on and frickin' on. 

There was also a broken planter on the porch that needed $800.00 of repairs, which was $300.00 more than originally though.

The advantage of commercial tenants is that a commercial lease spells out the maintenance expenses of the building and the percentage that the commercial tenants will contribute to the annual upkeep: doors, windows, landscape, parking lot upkeep and maybe even planter boxes.
