There was courtyard patio in the center of the building, and tenants could request to have planters assigned to them, so they could plant veggies or flowers, etc.

The advantage of commercial tenants is that a commercial lease spells out the maintenance expenses of the building and the percentage that the commercial tenants will contribute to the annual upkeep: doors, windows, landscape, parking lot upkeep and maybe even planter boxes.
