You are thinking about it correctly.Of course, all strategies you choose has advantages and disadvantages, including SEO.If a strategy existed without any disadvantages no one would do anything else.The key is to analytically weigh in the disadvantages, feasibility, probability and risk when determining what to do.

As a local investor in San Diego myself who used to invest in the Midwest...the low prices can be very enticing but make sure you really know the market first and what you are getting into before pulling the trigger...when you are out of state you are at a disadvantage as properties can differ quite heavily from block to block. 

The disadvantages of it are that the risks you're taking (and that I outlined in my original post) and the fact that it's gonna take more time until you can earn some rental income.I don't know about you but, if I can, I like to have my cake and eat it too.
