Without more info a diagnosis is impossible.FWIW, any tank hot water heater should be set to 140 and have a mixing valve to provide ~115 water.

GeorgeConcerning your vent problem ,,,I do not like Studor vents,,,,I like traditional old fashioned vents that go from the fixture to the roof,,,no matter what it takes to route them up and out thru the roof.I strongly suggest you go to a local plumbing supply house that sell to the trade only and get a reccomendation on a local father and son team with many years experience,that pays their supply house bills on time and have a great reputation.You need a thorough diagnosis of this problemGet a quote and pay these folks and let them work their magicIts hard for me to diagnose your problem with out photos or drawingsIn this case as I suggest find competant local helpBestDD

It's really hard to find a company that is good.....and by good I mean they repair any plumbing leaks the cause, they can do minor electrical diagnosis, and things like that.
