@Taylor Marvin I'd love to see your numbers that led you to draw the conclusion that you should always pay cash for depreciating assets (i.e. a car).

I came to the conclusion that I should be stashing at least $466/month away for those times when big ticket items need to be replaced (repaired).In addition to this, I try to do as much preventative maintenance on these things as possible, and the money spent on this DOES NOT come out of the capex account (rather, general maintenance).I set up an online savings account through Barclay's https://www.securebanking.barclaysus.com/login.do  due to their favorable interest rate and no cost.

@Ryan Jackson, I'm capped out at E-6 due to manning, and losing my airframe soon (new jet coming eliminates the Flight Engineer position), so big changes are coming for me regardless of whether I want them.I'm coming to the conclusion that nothing will change until I pick the right 6 numbers on a Lotto ticket, or I pack up and move.Again, appreciate the welcome.
