Also, since it doesn't sound like your agent actually delivered a signed contract offer, I'm not sure the listing agent has a duty to report a simple verbal inquiry to the seller.

I prefer email to a phone call and he responded to my inquiry about the case.

We have had offers, and inquiries, mostly because of craigslist. 

Just send through an inquiry explaining that you are not looking to rent a place but looking to possibly buy and see if they are willing to answer any questions you may have.

The credit hit that your credit will take is lumped into one inquiry (Source-last paragraph) so that you can shop around for the best terms etc.You don't want to be in the position to find a great place on a Friday afternoon at 5:00 PM just to have to wait until Monday to even submit for financing.
