One of the things I think is interesting with small towns, especially in farming regions, and ones with tourists hooks is that they have a form of industry that is always going to provide a base.

This can be a good strategy if you are located in a popular tourist destination or if you are comfortable with the added responsibilities of managing a short-term rental.Nomad: Another strategy is to use the property as a "nomad" rental, which involves living in the property for a year (or more) by yourself with the plan to scale to the next house and turn your current one into a rental.

I am not sure what attracted you to Guadalajara, I am mostly attracted to beach front tourist destinations (who doesn't like the beach?).

I started to think those few properties' marketing strategies: maybe some unique place to list the properties except AirBNB or VRBO,  such as targeted snow-birds place when the properties are in Tampa bay and mainly for tourists ?

Heck, even the Colorado ski areas that rely so heavily on tourists are cracking down now on Airbnb on Airbnb.But what I hear from talking to the planning departments in these cities is that even if the laws changed, existing STR licenses would be grandfathered in.

I’d go there myself in January when less tourist are around. 

It should ne booming as a STR - close to popular tourist town, etc, and we've recently been upgrading with little add-ons.

@Keegan SchaubKeegan, Other than times and places around local Ski resorts, the Summer is the main tourist season.Skiing is weather dependent which is variable, so that season is short within the winter.just IMHO.Cheers,Buddy

It seems like you can make great returns investing in the Outer Banks but the impression I got was that it is a seasonal vacation market with the summer months bringing the most tourists and highest profits.

Does the area pull out of state tourists for events frequently, or is seeing a growth in population.
