However I disagree that your money would be better spent on a flip - renovating a 100-yr-old property from long-distance would be difficult strategy for a newbie - investing on hard mode for sure.

Many will disagree but those on the higher pay scale this is totally the way to go.

When is generally what people disagree with. 

Others may disagree and argue the "eggs in one basket" approach, and they won't be wrong.

Most people would disagree but I was a higher paid engineer with little time.
