@Jacob Stevenson - doesn't look like grandfathering is relevant to you if this ordinance is the most current (this only applies when outlawing, banning, or updating restrictions).The question I'd ask is if you already had (or currently have) an STR permit?

Many areas are trying to lessen them, regulate them more, or outright banning them. 

I don’t know the odd of them getting 50% to ban STR, pry depends on the people renting them and how many of the other homes se owned by landlords who might be more favorable to allowing it. 

The local city municipality is considering banning STRs in residential areas and making it only in option in commercial zoned ordinances.  

So some places already had banned them.  

In speaking with the seller, he mentioned that he had previously banned the son from the property. 

There have been some serious oversteps by the govt and hopefully recent court decisions making the national ban unconstitutional will help out the small % of us who have been impacted. 

Right now with the eviction ban, you'll want to confirm that they are paying rent-bank statement showing deposits or something similar. 

Regardless, many states and local governments have enacted their own eviction bans.
