I'm still right side up due to getting a deal and finding a tenant who was willing to pay above market rent, but the point is this is a cash intensive business and little things can quickly add up to a lot of expense. 

STR is a hospitality business first, and a for-profit business second (if you want to succeed).

We’ve been in business for 15 years, with a capitalization of $300M.

We look forward to an incredible 2025 and continuing to grow our businesses together.

I think it’s a more recent consideration (maybe in the past decade or so based on my digging / anecdotal feedback) and perhaps some of you that have been in the business longer and simply renewing old policies may be getting a pass.  

But from a moral & ethical perspective, you may want to decide at some point to just eat it and accept write it off as cost of doing business.

@Michael Klinger  As others posted, SoFi and Discover personal loans are good options and I've used them in the past.  2-3 business days from application to funds in my checking account.

I assume this income/loss is passed onto your personal return through a K-1 and the business files a 1120? 

It's shifting to a model of a big anchor, a Target or a Costco, and lots of little businesses in that same shopping center.
