Sometimes I wonder if applicants give out fake reference number...The new applicants say they will clean and maintain the property every day for their guest and to maintain their Superhost status and it will have less wear and tear since all the rooms won't be occupied all the time throughout the year.I have a newly remodeled three bedroom/three bathroom unit in the middle of very trendy Los Angeles neighborhood (no rent control) it's a perfect location for hosting on Airbnb, I thought of hosting myself but didn't want to add any additional working hours to my current full-time job so I made a request to Airbnb co-hosting program and that's how I came in contact with the current applicants.

When I look at investment properties I look at cashflow and its appreciation potential and make my decision based on that, but with primary residences its a bit different.My last house that I purchased, I could have bought a larger home with a lot more rooms, in less expensive area and had my mortgage paid for that way, but I chose to purchase in more trendy/expensive area with less room.

There are options at that price that are in decent areas and/or safe, but they are boring and far from anything trendy. $70k puts you in the range of a 1-bedroom condo in a desirable area but you'll have to search hard.
