I started reading rich dad poor dad and it really changed the way I look at life and I now find myself striving to learn everything about the industry in real estate.

depends on the area of the US... some areas home ownership is of paramount importance and many strive to achieve it... in other parts of the US.. homeownership is not a driving force and there is no rush to buy one.the idea being.places that have high prices generally see appreciation come into play and folks want to get in on that appreciation. 

.- What do some of you strive for as you put deals together?

My advice is to strive for in house property management and a maintenance free investment.

"I will never be content"  it's a blessing and a curse I told her because always striving for goals and never being content means I will never be satisfied, but thats okay

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred with sweat and dust and blood who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasm, the great devotions and spends himself in a worthy cause; who, if he wins, knows the triumph of high achievement; and who, if he fails at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timed souls who know neither victory nor defeat. 

We strive to obtain a highly qualified tenant rather than just throw someone in that fogs a mirror. 

I also mentioned that I was surprised by her lack of response, said I thought we had a good working relationship, that our company strives to provide top quality accomodations and expect our tenants to make timely payments, that tenant performance is considered at lease renewal, and said she should feel free to contact me to discuss this.

When buying a rental property we strive for monthly rental income that is at least 1% of the purchase price.  

@Wenqi Nelson , many on BP are striving for investment rental properties achieve rent of about 1% to 2% (per month) of the purchase price.
