Hello all, I’m currently working on a Chicago style bungalow and want to get peoples opinions on this minor detail, so we are using Hardie siding with a stone fascia on the front of the house... right now the stone fascia is going to be only on the side to the left of the stairs below the first floor windows, but my partner wants to also run a few pieces a small section above the staircase platform to I guess create a continuous line across, whereas for me I believe doing that is going to make it look a little weird to have just a small section of stones there... are we overthinking this too much?

There was a couple up stairs with a little girl, the wife moved out, and the husband moved in his parents to help with his daughter.

Will there be an issue with renting out the property on higher floors as elders/families with young kids may be turned away due to the flights of stairs.

Are they mostly clapboards, shakes, or fiber-cement?

I would rather build the ground up higher and have a poured cement patio.

If you are laying tile then use the cement based boards.I am suggesting you safely encapsulate the existing vinyl tile and leave it alone.
