Because you will have staircases and hallways and landings that might have to be at least 36 inches (if they aren’t already present) - taking three feet for landings and such leaves some spaces at only 12 foot; if you are narrower than 15 feet you have narrower spaces.

First you MUST permanently cure the moisture issue.That starts outside with fill dirt around the house. 6 inches higher against foundation tapered out for 2 feet.
