Stuff that is easy to overlook are bad drainage from the house, too many trees, bad concrete outside - that stuff will murder you.

My concern at least here in NY is that this didnt need to  be shouted from the tree tops.

So here’s the story, a few years back my Mother built a beautiful dream house down the hill a bit from us in a really beautiful location on 5 acres with lots of trees surrounding the area.

After getting charged almost 800.00 for a tree removal of a small/medium size tree that the wind blew over (I was told it was because it was an emergency removal). 

Not my cup of tea but each to his own.

@Michael GreenbergWell, if managing STRs isn't your cup of tea, you probably aren't going to want to manage other types of property either.Although, it's much easier to find a property manager for SFR LTRs (but you don't like the returns), and perhaps Multifamily may offer you something more appealing in the way of returns and ability to let someone else do the managing. 

By landscaping do you mean cutting the grass or going in and maintaining gardens, pruning trees, etc?

My main concern is around dealing with the tree and/ potential foundation stuff.

I love the trees in the background of some lots.
