In my opinion, a good option for you is as follows:-- Find a reliable job and start automatically saving at least 20% of net your income to two separate bank accounts.  

Do not assume, as mentioned above, that loans automatically trade for a discount.  

I do it automatically now, preapprovals and loan amounts, or anything else possible really, with lots of the number 8 three times in a row. 

They have access to MLS and automatic searches, which can allow them to weed out a TON of the properties that do not fit your qualifications and allows you to look at them before they would show them to you. 

Just because a person is on section 8 does not mean they automatically have bad credit and a criminal record, although they usually do.
