Two of the houses are financed at 4.25% interest for 10 years then variable for 20 years.

And you are looking at an interest rate around 7% instead of over 10%. 

Why would not having a bankruptcy be an issue?

If you buy a different investment, you'll still need a place to live.Buy a house hack every two years and you'll have five properties and 40 unis in ten years.
