There are way too many variables to answer this beyond just a wild ballpark, let’s say $10-75 per square foot but depending on the actual project, scope of work, choice of finishes etc. it could be well outside of that range on either end.

Ordering speculative damages are a poor second choice and, in my experience, only awarded when the breach is based on impossibility of performance, say the seller didn’t actually have title to the property.
